funding & campaign Services
Liz Mayfield has led and executed complex fundraising and grant strategies as a nonprofit executive for over a decade, with direct accountability for both capital development and organizational sustainability.
Most recently, she served as the primary grant writer and fundraising strategist for a $9 million capital campaign, securing public and private funding to support long-term infrastructure and housing initiatives. In parallel, she oversaw and executed grant writing and fundraising efforts that grew Hope Harbor’s annual operating budget from approximately $500,000 in 2016 to over $1 million annually, diversifying revenue across public, private, and individual sources.
Among her most significant accomplishments, Liz Mayfield was nominated for and awarded $1.25 million in unrestricted funding through the Day 1 Families Fund—one of the most competitive philanthropic funding opportunities in the country.
This award recognized not only program impact, but organizational leadership, financial stewardship, and the capacity to responsibly deploy unrestricted capital at scale. The funding provided transformational stability and flexibility, strengthening long-term sustainability while supporting mission growth.
Throughout her tenure as Executive Director, Liz Mayfield served as the primary grant writer while also holding full executive responsibility for operations, staffing, compliance, and board governance. Grant strategy was developed in real time with organizational capacity, financial oversight, and funder accountability in mind.
This experience informs Briga Collective’s approach to grant writing and funding strategy: prioritizing readiness, alignment, and credibility with funders—not just strong narratives.
